Bates solo seat/1979 Mercedes leather- $225

I started with a Bates style metal pan. The mounting studs and included hardware are 5/16-18 SAE, not the metric stuff that comes with most aftermarket Bates style seats. The rear studs are 6″ apart, the front studs have a bit of adjustment built into them, and a t-bar mounting bracket is included. The pan is topped with 1″ thick high density foam, shaped to fit. The seat top is upholstered with Bamboo colored vintage 1979 Mercedes-Benz 300TD seat leather salvaged from a interior job that came through the shop. It’s old and distressed but it has been rubbed down a few times with a leather rejuvenating cream, and it’s fairly supple. I have enough leather left to make a matching p-pad. The seat is upholstered with vintage New Old Stock 1955 Buick vinyl that was left over from a restoration job I did years ago. It’s a semi-metallic pewter color with 1/2″ heat embossed pleats. The piping is 60′s style silver tinsel welt. I have just enough vinyl left to do a small p-pad. Contact me for details.

Vintage mohair chair $300

This chair looks to be from the 60′s. It was stripped down, the joints were glued and screwed tight, legs refinished, springs fixed and topped with new padding, and finished off in a vintage mohair that I’ve been holding on to ever since I started upholstery 19 years ago. $300. Located in Los Angeles, CA. Shipping is an option but local pickup preferred.

Recycling leather

I recycled some old seat leather out of a 1970 Mercedes 280 SEL and a 1979 Mercedes 300TD to use on some motorcycle seats. I really like the distressed look and the re-use of old materials. Gotta keep old leather out of the landfills!
